Brats, Beer and Oom-Pah Make for a Great Time on Sept. 28 and 29
Grab your stein and join the Town of Fountain Hills for a celebration of Oktoberfest in Fountain Park. There will be German music, authentic food, beer, dancing, contests, costumes (think lederhosen) and a designated children’s area.
NEW THIS YEAR…(weather permitting) the park will be illuminated with laser lights at 8pm 9pm and ten pm. Mayor Linda Kavanagh will tap the official keg on Friday evening opening the event with “O Zapft Is”, meaning it’s been tapped!
The mouthwatering Warsteiner beer direct from Germany will be served in four varieties. Delicious foot-long Brats with home made potato salad and Sauerkraut and the out of this world apple strudel will again be available. The food is prepared following German recipes. They are also introducing smoked turkey legs his year! The popular Dachshund race is back and so is the children’s area where kids entertain themselves free of charge. Our favorite band, “Die Echten Waldbuam” will entertain you both nights. You can win a BBQ grill, a Mercedes pedal car or a Dirndl and Lederhosen in our raffle.
Come out with your family and friends, enjoy yourselves and support all the vendors, sponsors and service organizations that make up the 100+ volunteers to serve you. The event organizers are the Southwest German Society, ELKS lodge 2846 and AMVETs Post #7. Other supporting service organizations include Sister Cities, Four Peaks Rotary and Noon Kiwanis. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to the programs these organizations support. To miss it would be the wurst.
Admission is $5, free for children under 12 and folks dressed in Oktoberfest attire. Friday and Saturday, September 28 and 29, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fountain Park, Fountain Hills, Arizona.
