Community Involvement offers Fountain Hills residenets a chance to contribute, meet new friends and remain vital

Fountain Hills is a community of “givers”, and never more so than on our annual “Make a difference Day” on October 27th.  “We reach out to the Faith community, the Area Agency on Aging volunteers who deliver Meals on Wheels, and our “Give a Lift” participants to find individuals who need help,” says Heather Ware, Volunteer Coordinator for the Town of Fountain Hills.  “We invite all individuals and organizations in the area to help us help the most vulnerable in our community.”

Projects are varied, from sprucing up yards to minor home repairs to adding ramps and safety features to a home.  Volunteers range from Cub and Daisy Scouts to Seniors who can do projects ranging from painting and planting to writing Christmas correspondence.  All interested individuals are encouraged to participate or to join one of the teams recruited by area service groups, clubs, and church groups.  Nearly 300 volunteers are expected to turn out for this popular event.

Volunteering is one of the ways newcomers to Fountain Hills get to know the community.  Literally hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours make it possible for us to have a spectacular Community Theater, Museum, Senior Center, Parks and Recreation sports and education offerings, and Greening of Downtown beautification program.  “Make a Difference Day” is unique in that gives individuals who work outside Fountain Hills a chance to spend time with friends and family give back to the community they love.
