For more than 30 years, Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce has hosted the Annual Festival of Fine Art. Attracting more than 450 artists from across the country, the juried exposition includes a full range of fair food and fine food, including fine chocolates, and hand-made pastas, and gourmet salts, oils vinegars and dressings. Many area Service Clubs raise the funds for their philanthropic projects serving up grilled favorites to the crowds. Multiple music venues provide delightful music throughout the day.
Like all fairs, many “guilty pleasure” foods bring out the “kid” in all of us. The scent of freshly made kettle corn, roasting corn on the cob, hickory-smoked barbeque fills the air. Brats and beer in the Am Vet’s Beer Garden overlooks the Fountain, and provides respite for shoppers who need a bite and a brew. Kids of all ages can enjoy ice cream, frozen bananas or Strawberries dipped in pure milk chocolate, or the Kiwanis specialty, cotton candy.
The artists represent a wide range of genres…wearable art, jewelry, and a wide range of hand embellished clothing. Sculptors, painters, watercolors…ceramics, porcelain, wood and carved and painted furniture…Whimsical décor, gifts, cards, games…thousands of patio accessories, wind chimes…more to see than can be described. Serious Shoppers or casual lookers enjoy the variety, color, texture of the one of a kind artistic creations.
200,000 people are predicted to attend the event, and Friday is the favorite day for locals. The crowds are smaller, vendors fresher, and the very best selection are still available. Many vendors for the November fair have customizable Christmas decorations that have become Family traditions. Enjoying Fountain Hills scenic beauty, the wonderful Fall weather, and the work of artists who always put the “awe” in “Awesome.”
