The L. Alan Cruickshank River of Time Museum is sponsoring a postcard design contest to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. The contest has two divisions. One is open to children of any age through middle school and the other is for high school students and adults. Professional artists and photographers are excluded as are current and former Museum Board members and current museum volunteers.
Any medium of art or photography is acceptable as long as it meets the contest’s criteria. Matter submitted must depict the Museum, its exhibits, or the historical aspects of the immediate area including anything from ancient to modern times. The standard size for postcards is 4 x 6 inches. Artwork can be any size as long as it has an aspect ratio of 4 x 6 and will reproduce well to 4” x 6”, since actual postcards of the winning art may be produced. Artwork should be submitted to the Museum’s store any time between March 1 and March 23, 2013. The children’s winner will be able to choose and receive free any book in the River Bank Store and the adult winner will receive a $50 store certificate.
Winners will be notified and receive prizes on March 30th when photographs will be taken for an announcement in the Fountain Hills Times and Museum’s Legacy publication. Local Western artist, Carlos Hadaway will lead the panel of judges. Winning entries and runners-up will be on display in the Museum for a time following the contest.
“Now is the time to get your creative juices flowing,” said Debbie Skehen, the Museum’s president. “Draw, paint or photograph something related to the Museum and Fountain Hills Historical Society, and you may be a winner!”
