From darling ducklings to majestic mountains, a day a Saguaro Lake is the perfect celebration of summer in Arizona. Viewed from a relaxing cruise on the Desert Belle, the 9-mile long lake is a pure pleasure for fun-seekers of all ages. A perfect choice for special celebrations, the Belle is handicapped accessible as well as very “kid-friendly.”
The smooth-riding pontoon boat has two open-air decks and an air-conditioned cabin where you can purchase light refreshments for the ride. (No coolers allowed). Be sure to take a camera, as the scenery is breath-taking.
During the 90 minute daytime tours, the Captain’s pleasant narration provides a humorous overview of Arizona’s chain of lakes that maintain the water supply for the Valley of the Sun, and provide a sizable amount of the hydro-electric power for the area. His tall tales are entertaining but never overwhelm the pure pleasure of time on the water in the beautiful Sonoran Desert.
But most of all, it is a totally relaxing way to share a day with friends and family…listening to some soft music, feeling the cool breeze, and enjoying more than 40 miles of beautiful shoreline. Revelers on the early evening live music Cruises, are often thrilled to see families of Mountain Sheep looking down from the craggy peaks beside the steep canyons of the narrow ends of the lake.
In case you’re not quite ready to call it a day after the cruise, the Lakeshore Restaurant invites you to stay just a little bit longer. Better than average “Diner Fare” is a draw all its own to Valley dwellers, but bring an appetite…portions are very generous!
Reservations for the Desert Belle are a must, and special arrangements are available for groups and special events.
