On Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, the three veterans’ organizations of Fountain Hills will conduct a ceremony at the Fountain Hills Memorial Plaza honoring all veterans.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Fountain Hills Mayor Linda Kavanagh will be the keynote speaker, and the commanders of all three posts, AMVETS Post 7, VFW Post 7507, and American Legion Post 58 will give brief addresses.
The VFW color guard will post the colors and Debbie Fisher will play Taps and sing the national anthem. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by AMVETS Finance Officer Al DeManage, the opening prayer by AMVETS Chaplain Gordon Rohn, and the closing prayer by VFW Chaplain Lou Magdelin.
A special item on the program will feature all veterans in the crowd moving to the front to salute the colors as they pass by at the end of the ceremony. Attendees are invited to the American Legion at 16837 E Parkview Ave. for coffee and pastries.
Attendees are encouraged to wear the red tee shirts that say “Home of the Free, Because of the Brave.” These can be purchased at the local VFW.
