Save the Date: July Activities in Fountain Hills

July Heralds the Return of the Monsoon —
Life-giving Rain Clouds Thunder Over the Mountains in Spectacular Array

July #1 Monsoon Sky FHMonsoon Storm watching is almost addictive in the Sonoran Desert Summer. The clouds gather every afternoon…sometimes a welcome veil of misty sun-cover, but most often pile upon pile of towering clouds climb up and over the mountains, bringing the hope of life-giving rain to the welcoming desert.

As the air cools the rain-scented air, we gather on our patios to wonder at the breathtaking color and form playing out across the gathering dusk. And if we’re lucky, the lightning and thunder will produce much-needed rain. At times like these, we can’t help thinking, “If you’re lucky enough to live in Fountain Hills, you’re lucky enough!”

Play It Again Sam

April #2play-it-again-samWoody Allen’s career as a playwright and later actor/director accelerated with the success of his 1968 play, “Play it again Sam.” Fountain Hills Mainstage Theater’s April offering is a “Hilarious… a cheerful romp. Not only are Mr. Allen’s jokes and their follow ups, asides and twists audaciously brilliant, but he has a great sense of character.” – The New York Times

Nominated for 4 Tony awards, the play follows newly divorced playwright Allan Felix who has this thing about Humphrey Bogart. If only he had some of Bogart’s technique… Bookish and insecure with women, Allan’s hero, Bogey comes to the rescue, with a fantastic bevy of beauties played out in hilarious fantasy

sequences. Fixed up by friends with gorgeous women, he’s so awkward that even the mythical Bogey’s patience is tried.

Silver Car Aution:  January 17-18, 2014, Silver has skillfully established a solid reputation for auctioning affordable collector cars in this January-in-Arizona extravaganza. Silver’s auction continues to grow each year because it is filling a much-needed auction alternative. Thousands of buyers and sellers want an auction where they can buy and sell in an arena that they are personally comfortable in. Silver provides that alternative for the greater Phoenix area since 1992. Silver’s Fort McDowell auction offers real buyers and sellers, real cars and real deals. Held at Fort McDowell Casino, for more information go to Silver Auction.  Gates open both days at 8:00 am, admission is $20.

Russo and Steele:   Held in Scottsdale near the 101 and Scottsdale Road, European sports cars, American muscle cars, hot rods and customs are the focus at Russo and Steele. The organization refers to the auction as an event “for enthusiasts by enthusiasts.”  In 2014, they are continuing with their signature “Auction in the Round” format, and will offer 5 days of Auction excitement and over 700+ classic cars.  January 15-19, check out more at Russo and Steele.

RM Auctions:  Beginning as a car restoration company in 1976, RM Auctions has grown into a well-respected investment-grade collector car auction company, offering the finest motor cars to a discerning clientele. Collectors and admirers of vintage automobiles flock to Arizona each winter, and RM Auctions is high on the list of must-attend classic car auctions. In October 2011 RM Auctions sold the world’s oldest running motor car, a historic 1884 De Dion Bouton et Trepardoux Dos-a-Dos Steam Runabout, for an impressive $4.62 million. That was a record!  January 15-17 at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel.  For more information:  RM  Auctions
