The Fountain Hills Library is Springing Alive with lots to do!

Library InteriorThis April the Library is offering classes that suite everyone. The events planned are as varied as reading, film classes an even how to use those E-Readers! Even though these classes require registration they are still free.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER ON THURSDAY

April 3, 10, 17, 24 (Thursdays) 10-11 a.m.

Toddlers, birth to 3-years-old, are invited to join us each Thursday morning for age-appropriate stories, activities, & crafts. This month’s theme is “ABCs.” Conference Room. PAWS 2 READ

April 5 (Saturday) 10-11:30 a.m.

Ages 4-12. Paws 2 Read pairs registered therapy animals, such as Roy (a yellow Lab), and their handlers with young readers. These dogs love to be read to and enjoy the company of children. Participants increase their reading levels and word recognition naturally, without intimidation, and develop a greater desire to read. STEM @ the LIBRARY: SLIME BY MAD SCIENCE

April 5 (Saturday) 3-4 p.m.

Ages 5-8. Explore the exciting world of polymers, the chemical reactions we use to create them and the inner workings of silly putty. TEDDY BEAR PICNIC

April 7 (Monday) 10-11:30 a.m.

Ages 0-5. Bring your favorite stuffed animal for a “BEARY” special story time in front of the library. Story, games, and craft booths will be set up around the Centennial Circle. Take a turn spinning the library’s prize wheel at the town’s Eggstravaganza celebration. Stay for the finale egg hunt as hundreds of kids scramble to pick up over 15,000 eggs stuffed with candy and other prizes. Funded by the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library. Children of all ages. Jano Nightingale, a local landscape designer and horticulturist, will explain the life cycle of a plant as it grows. Children will create a memorable gift for Mother’s Day. Learn about free instructor-led online classes that last for 6 weeks and allow you to work at your own pace. You can learn job skills, try a new hobby, update your computer knowledge or just take a class for fun. With over 300 classes, you’re sure to find one for you. This session introduces the library’s Learn4Life service and shows you how to start a class on the topic of your choice. Then, you can continue the class on your own computer or in the library. When a real mystery falls into his lap, he probes the evidence for some reliable truth, but finds it hard to reckon with. Vanessa Redgrave plays an enigmatic woman whose desperation to cover something up only seems like one more phenomenon in Hemmings’s disinterested purview. FREE PAPER SHREDDING & RECYCLING OF ELECTRONICS, CFL & FLUORESCENT TUBE BULBS

April 19 (Saturday) 9 a.m.-12 noon (or until truck is full)

Residents of Fountain Hills, Rio Verde, Tonto Verde and Fort McDowell are invited to shred up to four file boxes of paper per person in this free paper shredding event funded by the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library. The shredding truck will be in the library’s parking lot at the corner of El Lago Blvd. and La Montana Dr. All participants must remain with their documents until they are placed in the shredding containers. From 8 a.m.-1 p.m., the town will provide recycling of electronics, CFL bulbs and fluorescent tube bulbs in the Town Hall / Community Center parking lot.
